What is a rhetorical question?
A question in which shouldn’t be answered e.g. Does she really think that?
What is a verb?
A doing word e.g. he walked QUICKLY down the street
What is alliteration?
a situation where words linked closely sound similar or start with the same letter E.g. sneak peaks shoot sideways
What is a pronoun?
He, She, They, Them
What is a simile?
Compares two things with like or as E.g. She smelt like flowers
What is a metaphor?
An image that compares two things without using like or as E.g. The fireworks were sparkling flowers
What is personification?
Gives something nonhuman human like features E.g. The raindrops danced on pavements
What is Onomatopoeia?
Giving words to try explain sounds E.g. “tap tap tap”
What is repetition?
Repeating words for effect E.g. “come on! come on!’
What is a personal pronoun?
I, me, mine or his your, yours
What is emotive language?
A choice of words for emotive effect on the reader.
What is a hyperbole?
Deliberate exaggeration. E.g. I’ve told you thousands of times.
What is an Adverb?
These often end in Ly and accentuates a word. E.g boldly, brightly
What is an adjective?
These describe things. E.g. smiley, yellow.
What is a simple sentence?
They only have one complete verb. E.g. my dad never works on weekends.
