A direct comparison, usually using ‘like’ or ‘as’
Define: Metaphor
Describing one thing as another when it is not literally so.
Define: Personification
Describing inanimate objects using human qualities.
Define: Sensory Language. (List examples.)

Repetition of initial letter sounds.
Define: Sibilance.

A set of words grouped together around a particular meaning.

A mild or indirect word to describe something harsher or more unpleasant.

Heightened or exaggerated language.

Define: Oxymoron.
Two words side by side with opposite meanings.
Define: Minor sentence
A sentence with no subject and verb combination.
Define: Simple sentence
A sentence with 1 independent clause (a clause that starts with the subject and has a word in it.)
