landmark trials Flashcards
1
Q
PLATO trial
A
- compared ticagrelor to clopidogrel inPTs with ACS
- ticagrelor had better mortality results but had greater risk of bleeding
- **but in Europe, the American subgroup had worse outcomes with ticagrelor bc of they were taking high doses of ASA –> black box warning that doess of ASA >100 mg decrease the effectiveness of ticagrelor
2
Q
4S trial and CARE trial
A
- LDL-reducing agents (ie: statins) decrease the risk of adverse ischemic events in PTs with established CAD
- statins reduce mortaility and major coronary events in PTs with known CAD or previous MI
3
Q
SAVE and SOLVD
A
- ACEI reduce the rate of recurrent MI
4
Q
HOPE trial
A
- ACEI reduce incidence of cardiovascular death, MI and stroke in PTs at high risk for or had vascular disease
- can’t be attributed to decline in BP alone
5
Q
RALES
A
- low-dose sprinolactone was added to ACEI in PTs with class III or IV CHF and recent hospitilizations
- risk of disk was reduced by 30% and hospitilization by 35%
