Q

Explain the Emergency Extension process.

A

Pull out the free-fall handle.

That activates the free-fall selector valve and releases all residual hydraulic pressure from the landing gear lines to the return line, and mechanically releases the landing gear uplocks. Gravitational and aerodynamic forces extend the landing gear (the gear free fall). The downlock mechanism then locks the gear in its fully extended position.

Q

When the flap lever is set to either 0, 1, or 2 position, when would the landing gear aural warning sound?

A

*Difference between pressure altitude and LFE is less than 700’, or radio altimeter indication less than 700’ AGL;

and
*Airspeed is below 160kts;

and
*Either thrust lever is set below 40 degrees for two operative engines; Thrust lever of operative engine is set below 40 degrees for a one-engine inoperative condition.
