What protects the gear from retracting on the ground?
A
Safety pressure switch in the pitot system - deactivates hydraulic pressure pump circuit when impact air pressure is below 59-63kts

When will the gear horn sound?
A
The gear is not down and locked and…
- One or both engines are retarded to a level insufficient to maintain level flight
- Flaps are extended below 16 degrees

Can you silence the gear horn?
A
Yes.
A Q-switch can silence the gear horn for operation with the throttles idle. Must be activated between 99 and 106kts with flaps above 16 degrees.
A “GEAR HORN SILENCE” button will also silence the horn with throttles already at idle

Is there an emergency gear extension system?
A
Yes - hydraulic pressure bypass valve
