Landing Gear Flashcards
What is Vle?
160 KIAS
What is Vlo?
135 KIAS
Minimum Retract speed?
50 KIAS
How long does full retraction/extension take?
11-29 seconds
Can landing gear cycle be reversed mid-swing?
Yes, can be reversed with no damage
(Will get failed extension indication)
How does the aircraft know when the gear has reached a stop?
RCM senses over current pulses from servos reaching their stops which is used to determine gear position
(There are not micro switches to indicate actual gear position)
What is the order for gear extension/retraction?
Nose - Left - Right
Does the aircraft have mechanical downlocks?
No, there are no mechanical downlocks
(over center extension using aircraft weight to hold gear against down stop)
What is the only way to truly determine position of gear?
Using the camera on the MTS Ball to perform a visual gear inspection
Note: because the system uses gear “time out” or “amp outs” to determine position rather than micro switches, the system doesn’t truly know the position of the gear. The system runs on 22 amps and as long as the servo over amps to 25 amps within the pre-established 11-29 seconds, then the system thinks the gear is correctly positioned…even though it might not be
