Q

What difference is there in the landing gear system onboard G-AZSF compared to G-TORC and G-TEBZ and what should you consider with this in the event of an emergency?

A

No low speed gear horn system installed. Automatic gear release system fitted instead.

Automation gear release system has dramatic effect on drag of the airframe in any situation. This can be particularly deadly if the system activates during and EFATO. Advised disarm system (pin next to trim wheel) when operating from short runways or those with obstacles at the end of the DER(end threshold)

Q

What considerations should be made when making a forced landing without power?

A

Gear fully lowered decreases the glide distance by as much as half. If engine fails and lowering the landing gear would compromise the aircrafts range to the point of not making it to the landing area, perform a wheels up/belly landing.
