landforms Flashcards
how are they created?
through processes such as erosion and deposition
caves
formed by the dissolution of limestone through all of the processes at the notch area (the bottom sticking out from the cliff)
arch
two caves back to back being eroded away slowly becomes an arch
stack
top of arch fallen in as a result of weathering weakening it and it not being able to hold its own weight
stump
an eroded stack
spits
formed where the coastline changes direction & LSD continues to move material along the beach. LSD deposits material in sea after coastline has changed direction. over time level of sand deposited will build-up until it’s above sea level
bars
when a spit grows across a bay joining two headlands together and creating a bar. they can trap shallow lakes behold the bar, these are called lagoons which don’t last forever and may be filled up with sediment.
