Describe and explain how land use changes as you move out from the CBD towards the rural urban fringe in an MEDC city
A
- In the CBD, there is the city centre and this is where shops, leisure and entertainment are located.
- Housing is very expensive and consists of apartment blocks.
- These are highly sought after and attract professionals who work close by and earn high wages

What is the next zone (after CBD)?
A
- Moving out is the inner city area which consists of a lot of manufacturing industries, however much of this has now closed down.
- Before it had closed down, it provided cheap terraced houses which were small though with little or no green spaces

What have inner cities become?
A
More popular, especially with young adults.
- The reason for this is they are close to office workplaces and the facilities of the city centre
- Recently they have been smartened up and re-developed

How does urbanisation differ between richer and poorer countries? (1)
A
- Happened in late 18th and 19th centuries during the industrial revoultion in richer countries
- Industrial revolution is when factories were first built
- People moved from living in the countryside to find jobs in the newly opened factories

- Urbanisation began in the LEDCs in 1950s
- The rate of urbanisation happened much faster in richer countries
