Marine companies carry 12 foot and 20 foot portable hook ladders with wood beams. They are painted __________
Black except for the hooks and for 18” at the base of each beam, which are painted white
Where are the length and company ID located on marine company 12 and 20 foot portable hook ladders?
Stenciled on the exterior of both beams
What are the two types of aluminum ladders?
Solid beam aluminum construction and aluminum truss construction.
Solid Beam Aluminum construction
Type of ladder that has solid side rail construction with aluminum rings connecting with the side rails at 14” intervals.
Aluminum truss construction
The top and bottom rails are connected to rung assemblies by rivers and gusset plates. This construction allows greater side beam heights without adding to the weight of the overall ladder
Aluminum ladder advantages
-Lighter in weight and stronger than wood -will not weaken with age. Long life expectancy. -will dent but will not chip or crack. -will not fail suddenly due to overloads -bend but not break
Disadvantages of aluminum ladders
- readily conduct electricity
- conduct heat rapidly
- if subjected to excessive heat it may lose heat treatment resulting effecting its load carrying capacity.
If ladder is exposed to excessive heat you may see discoloration or you may not. Either way you shall notify
