Lactate System Flashcards
What is the purpose of the lactate system?
To use glycogen or glucose to restore ATP in the muscle cells
What is this process known as?
This process is known as glycolysis
Is this system aerobic or anaerobic?
This system is an anaerobic glycolysis system
What’s the fuel source for this system?
It uses glycogen and glucose as fuel
How long does the system last for?
10 seconds to 2 minutes
How long does this system take to resynthesise?
It takes 1 to 2 hours
What sports would this system be used in?
Stopstart games, field and court sports like football or tennis
What’s the process of resynthesis?
-Glycogen is present in the muscle cells and in the bloodstream
-glucose is then broken down to provide energy, enzymes speed this up
-pyruvate is produced and since there is no oxygen it turns into lactate
What does the lactate system use as a fuel source?
Uses glycogen or glucose to restore ATP in the muscle cells.
What is this process known as?
Glycolysis
Is this system aerobic or anaerobic?
Anaerobic.
How long does this system last?
10 seconds to 2 minutes
How long is the resynthesis time for this system?
1 to 2 hours
What sports would this system be used in?
Stopstart games, field and court sports.
