Complete Blood Count (CBC)
includes WBC count looking for infection
Basic metabolic panel
includes blood levels for organ function such as electrolytes, kidney function (BUN and creatinine), blood glucose
Comprehensive Metabolic panel (CMP)
more thorough, looking at liver function
Urinalysis
examining urine for signs of infection or organ dysfunction/failure
X-rays
used for seeing broken bones
Ultrasound
used for reproductive organs and inflammation structural
MRI
used for organ and tissue evaluation
CAT scan
CT scan w/o contrast - used for brain, lungs, bones (no dyes)
CT scan w/ IV contrast - used for aneurysms, strokes, blood clots, allows for evaluation of the flow of blood
CT scan w/ PO contrast: by mouth, used for GI system
EKG
electronic signals of the heart
