PFT’s
Measurements of the breathing capability of the lungs. A spirometer measures the air taken in and breathed out.
Thoracentisis
A needle is inserted into the pleural space to remove pleural fluid for examination or excess pleural fluid or air
Sputum test
Sputum is analyzed for bacterial content or for malignant cells
TB skin test
Agents are applied to the skin with punctures or injection and the reaction is note. If redness and swelling occur this may indicate TB
Bronchoscopy
Visual examination of the bronchial tubes with a scope
