Cardiac catheterization

Cardiac enzymes
A blood test to measure enzymes released into the blood after a heart attack

Echocardiogram
Produces images of the heart via sound waves or echoes

Recording electricity flowing through the heart
Event monitor
A monitor worn for up to two weeks that can record irregularities in the heartbeat
Holter monitor
A monitor worn for 24 hours that can record heart irregularities
MIBI scan
A radioactive chemical is injected intravenously and shows perfusion of the blood in the heart muscle
PET scan
Radioactive chemicals are injected into the bloodstream and travel to the heart where cross sectional images of the blood and functional activity of the heart
Stress test
An ECG plus blood pressure and heart rate are recorded as the patient walks on a treadmill

X-ray of blood vessels after injection of a contrast medium into the bloodstream
