National Labor Relations Act (NLRA)
Protect employee + employer rights. Protects the rights of employees to organize, form unions, and engage in collective bargaining
The Fair Labor Standards Act
Sets federal standards for minimum wage, overtime pay, record keeping, and child labor.
The Equal Pay Act of 1963
Mandates that men and women in the same workplace receive equal pay for equal work
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act
Prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin
Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
Protects employees and job applicants aged 40 and older from discrimination based on age
The Rehabilitation Act of 1973
prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in programs conducted by federal agencies

Protects discrimination towards specified categories of veterans

Prohibits discrimination on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions

Mandates that employers verify the employment eligibility of all employees, using the I-9 form to ensure that they are authorized to work in the U.S. (prevent illegal immigrant hire)
The WARN Act
Requires employers to provide 60 days’ advance notice of significant layoffs or plant closings
The American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and public and private places open to the general public.
Family Medical Leave Act of 1993
Allows eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year for specified family and medical reasons
The Uniformed Services Employment & Re-employment Rights Act of 1994
Protects the civilian employment rights of individuals who serve or have served in the uniformed services, including the U.S. Armed Forces, Reserves, National Guard, and other uniformed services.
The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act
Protects individuals from being discriminated against by health insurers or employers based on their genetic predispositions or family medical history
