What does AST stand for?
Aspartate Transaminases
What does ALT stand for?
Alanine Transaminase
What does GGT stand for?
Gamma Glutamyl Transpeptidase
What does ANA stand for?
Antinuclear antibody
When can ANA be elevated ?
autoimmune conditions (SLE, Hashimotos, hepatitis, myasthenia gravis) or chronic disease. Some meds can elevate it. 98% of pts with SLE will have an elevated ANA.
What is Anti- dsDNA (double stranded DNA) used for?
if ANA is +ve, for SLE
What is Anti-SM used for?
SLE (30%)
What is Anti-RO (SSA) used for?
Sjogrens (70%), SLE, scleroderma, celiac
What does Anti-dsDNA stand for?
Anti double stranded DNA
What is Anti-LA (SSB) used for? What is it specific for?
Sjogrens (60%), SLE, Scleroderma. Specific for Sjogrens
What does Anti- CCP stand for?
Anti cyclic citrullinated peptide
What does Anti CCP (anti cyclic citrullinated peptide) test for?
RA
What does Anti Jo 1 test for?
polymyositis (20- 30%), pulmonary fibrosis
When is complement (both C3/C4) increased ?
Inflammation, CA, UC, thyroiditis, acute MI, sarcoidoses
When is complement (both C3/C4) decreased?
hereditary deficiencies, infections, SLE, septicemia (C3 only), kidney disease, cirrhosis/hepatitis, malnutrition
