Lab Practical 2 Flashcards
What is the frontal bone?
The forehead bone to top of head to top of eyes
What is the parietal bone?
Top of center of head divided between left and right sides
What is the coronal suture?
The separation between the frontal bone and the parietal bone ( top center of head split into right and left sections)
What is the supraorbital Margin?
Top of the eye bone
What’s the temporal bone?
Connected to parietal bone on the bottom( the external auditoria’s canal is connected to this bone ( consist of a left and right part)
What is the zygomatic process?
Connects the zygomatic bone to the temporal bond( the skinny part)
What is the Mastoid process?
Very bottom of temporal bone where it comes to a point/ rounded edge (under the external auditory canal)
What is the styloid process?
The canine tooth looking bone at the bottom of the temporal bone
What is the mandibular Fossa?
What is the Occipital Bone?
Back of the head flat bone ( connected to the parietal bone and temporal bone)
What is the occipital condyle?
On the inside of skull close to the center where the hole is (bone on each side)
What is the external occipital protuberance?
While looking at skull in the inferior view it is the long raised line going along the center of the occipital bone
What is the Inca bone?
What is the sphenoid Bone?
Bone including nasal bone, behind the eye and on the sides of the head between the cheek bone and temporal bone (forms the shape of a butterfly)
What is the sella Turcica?
With a superior view of the sphenoid bone it is the dip/depression in the center of bone
What is the ethmoid bone?
Which the superior view of the skull it is right under the sphenoid bone
Where is the perpendicular plate?
Part of the ethmoid bone that is straight up and down behind the nasal cavity
Where is the cribriform plate?
On the bottom side of the ethmoid bone
Where is the cribriform plate?
On the bottom side of the ethmoid bone
Where is the crista Galli ?
The passage way at the bottom through the center of the ethmoid bone
Where is the Cribriform (olfactory) foramina
The small impressions on the bottom of the ethmoid bone
Where is the middle nasal concha
The two pieces on the side of The perpendicular plate of the ethmoid bone that are seen from the nasal cavity
Where is the Lacrimal bone?
In front of the ethmoid bone seen peeking out of the eye socket hole
Where is the nasal bone
The bone connecting the frontal bone and the maxillary bone.
Where is the zygomatic bone?
It is the cheek bone that continues to form the bottom inside part of the eye
Where is the temporal process?
The flat side of the zygomatic that forms the cheek
Where is the Palatine Bone?
Top of mouth by back mollars (hard pallet)
What is the Vomer bone?
Behind the maxillary bone above the teeth
Where is the Maxilla Bone?
The bone connected to your teeth zygomatic bone (cheek), and frontal bone
Where is the palatine process?
Bottom of roof of mouth (hard palate)
Where’s the incisive foramen?
The little indention in the midline of the mouth
Where are the inferior nasal concha located?
The two “wings” behind the naval cavity and below the middle nasal concha
What is a coronal suture?
The joint that holds the frontal and parietal bone together
What is the Sagittal suture?
Joint that holds the right and left sides of the parietal bones together
Where is the lambdoidal suture?
The joint that connects the occipital and parietal bones together
What is the squamous suture?
The joint that holds the temporal bone and the parietal bones together
What is the sutural (wormian) Bone
Small flat bone found between bones of the skull
What is the Manible?
Chin / lower jaw bone
What is the Condylar Process?
The fartherst part of the lower jaw that connects to the temporal bone
What is the mandibular Notch
The swoop of the jaw between the condylar process and the Coronoid process
