Lab Notes 1 Flashcards
What are the 3 forms of thinking?
1) Analytical thinking
2) lateral thinking
3) Critical thinking
What is analytical thinking?
Reviewing the data/info that is presented (for patterns, trends, relevence)
What is lateral thinking?
Putting the data in a new context to generate new solutions or answers
What is critical thinking?
Making an overall judgement about data/info that is free from false premises or biases. The most important form of thinking in science. Taking an active role in processing information rather than passively receiving info as facts

What is the dependent variable?
Variable measured to see if the IV influenced it
What are confounding variables?
Variables that affect the DV other than the IV (extraneous factors)
