Who are the Angiosperms.
Have fruits and have flowers.
So Anthophytes essentially. Have flowers and seeds are inside fruit.
Who are the Gymnosperms
Naked seeds and flowers not present.
So Conifers essentially. No fruits, just pollination and then seed.
What does Dioecious mean.
That it has both the male and female reproductive organs in different individuals.
What does Monoecious mean.
That it has both the male and female in one individual.
What is Sorus (or Sori)
the cluster of sporangia underneath the leaves of a fern.
What is Seta
the stalk supporting the capsule of a moss or liverwort.
What is the Periderm
Essentially the bark of plants. Outermost and helps protect the plant. Also stops Dessication.
Who are the Bryophytes
Mosses, Liverworts.
Who are the Monilophytes
Ferns
Who are the Coniferophytes
Conifers. Cone bearing plants.
Who are the Anthophytes
Flowering plants essentially.
Dicot roots
Have vascular tissue at the very center with the Xylem and Phloem forming an X.
Monocot stem.
Vascular tissues (the Xylem and Phloem) scattered all over the plant.
Dicot stems
Have vascular tissues lining the outer part of the stem. The Xylem typically on the inside and Phloem more on the outside.
Monocot root
Have all the vascular tissue in the middle with Xylem being rather obvious and large.
