Lab Equipment Flashcards
Ring Stand
Ringstands are a safe and convenient way to perform reactions that require heating using a Bunsen Burner
Wire Gauze
Wire Guaze sits on the iron ring to provide a place to stand the beaker
Bunsen Burner
Use for the heating of nonvolatile liquids and solids
Test Tube Holder
Useful for holding a test tube which is too hot to handle
Forceps
Used to pick up small objects
Wash Bottle
A wash bottle has a spout that delivers a wash solution to a specific are. Water should only be used.
Florence Flask
It is used for the mixing of chemicals. It has a narrow neck that prevents splash exposure.
Beaker Tongs
Used to move beakers containing hot liquids
Test Tube Rack
Used for holding and organizing test tubes on the laboratory counter
Weighing Boat
Used to weigh solids that will be transferred to another vessel
Crucible
Used for heating curtain solids particularly metals, to very high temperatures
Glass Plate
They provide a surface for a semi-micro-scale experience, such as drop reactions and testing of acids and bases
Test Tube Brushes
Used to clean test tubes and graduated cylinders
Beaker
They hold solids or liquids that will not release gases when reacted or are unlikely to splatter if stirred or heated.
Crucible Tongs
For handling hot crucibles; also used to pick up other hot objects. NOT used for picking up beakers
