Orbicularis oculus muscle
Circular muscle surrounding each eye. Winking and blinking muscle
Lavator labii superioris
Begins under the orbicularis oculi and passes down under the lip. Helps raise the lip during sneering. Divided into 2 sections
Zygomaticus Major muscle
And zygomaticus minor muscle
Extend from the zygomatic arch to the lips. Pull corner of lip upward during laughter and smiling
Risorius Muscle
Located lateral to and inferior to the zygomaticus. Draws the corner of the lip laterally
Buccinator miscle
Large muscle of cheek
Orbicularis oris muscle
Encircles the buccinator. Used to purse lips while kissing
Depressor anguli oris muscle
Attaches from the mandible to the corner of the mouth. Pulls the angle of the mouth outward
Platysma muscle
Located lateral to the depressor anguli oris. Depresses the mandible draws the angle of the mouth downward and wrinkles the skin of the neck
Mental is muscle
Causes protruding of the lip when in doubt or POUTING
Masseter muscle
Attaches between the zygomatic process and ramus of the mandible. Prime mover of the lower jaw
Sternocleidomastoid muscle
Large muscle running from the back of the head behind the ear (the mastoid process), to the clavicle and sternum
Styloglossus muscle
Moves the tongue
Stlohyoid muscle
Passes down the neck to the hyoid bone
Stylopharyngeus muscle
Attaches from the styloid process to the pharynx. Draws the pharynx upward and laterally enlarging the opening.
Digastric muscle
Large muscle attaching to the back side of the skull and passing the bottom of the floor of the mouth
