Directly proportional to % salinity

What does the % salinity tell us
A
The bacteria likely mutated (induced by UV radiation etc)
The greater the percent salinity, the better the bacteria survived

What does radiation do to a cell
A
Can ionize water molecules to form free radicals, which react with the nitrogenous bases of DNA to change their chemical structure, altering their ability to form specific base pairs with other bases (thymine dimers-covalent bond between two thymines)
