Lab 10 Tissues Flashcards
What are three types of tissues?
Skeletal, cardiac and smooth
What is the skeletal tissue?
It is voluntary, attached to the skeleton to move the body, long cylindrical fibers, multinucleate, perioheral nuclei
What is the cardiac tissue?
Involuntary, found in the heart to pump blood, branching cylindrical fibers, single central nucleus, intercalated discs connect (coordinate contraction)
What is smooth tissue?
Involuntary, found in hollow organs to propel substances through hollow organs, spindle shaped cells, single central nucleus, not straited
What are neurons?
Specialized nerve cells that generate and conduct nerve impulses
What is neuralgia?
Supporting cells that support, insulate, and protect neurons
