Lab 1 Flashcards
What is the purpose of the PowerLab system?
to acquire, store, and analyze data
What is the raw input signal?
analog
What is the difference btwn analog and digital signals?
- analog signals are continuous, meaning there are no gaps in info (EX: body temp and weight)
- digital signals are discreet, meaning that there are gaps in info
What did we measure in this lab?
pulse - change in force in the arteries
____________ signal is analog, and the force transucer will convert it into an ____________ signal, which is also analog. Through ______ ________________.
Mehanical, electrical, signal transuction
The voltage signal is then sent to the powerlab, and is processed through what?
- Amplification - amplitudes are being increased
- Filtering - makes the signal cleaner, gets rid of the noise
- Sampling - converts signal from analog to digital, allows data to be displayed
What are digital signals influenced by?
sampling rate - the higher the sampling rate, the less gaps in info; the smaller the sampling rate, the more gaps in info
What happens if the strap of the pulse transducer is too tight?
- signal will be weak, intermittent or noisy
What are some other things that the powerlab can measure?
finger pulse, blood pressure, respiration and can even do EMGs
