What is the falling action?

The conclusion of the story. The point in the plot at which the conflict comes to an end. Most questions raised throughout the story are answered.

A warning or indication of a future event
What is a flashback?
Interruptions in a story where the writer inserts past events in order to provide background or context to the current events of the narrative.
What is internal conflict?
Man v. Himself. A conflict within the character (jealousy, insanity, fear, hatred).
What is external conflict?
Man v. man; man v. nature; man v. society. Characters pitted against an outside force like: natural elements, societal obstacles, one person, or other characters.
What is first-person narration?
Identifiable by the use of the pronoun “I.” A first-person narrator may be a major character and often its protagonist.
What is third-person omniscient narration?
All-knowing perspective that allows the narrator to know the thoughts and feelings of any character.
What is third-person objective?
Gives only observable details and does not have access to the internal thoughts of characters or background information about the setting or situation.
What is third-person limited?
Knows what is in the minds of only a select few characters
What is mood?
The general atmosphere created by the author’s words
