What are the tails in hypothesis tests
>
What is the critical value approach to hypothesis testing
Decide. Critical value based n some commonly used significance level and if your parameter is more extreme than the critical value fail the null hypothesis
What are the two types of error in hypothesis testing
Type one false rejection and type two falsely admit the null hypothesis
How can you decrease the chance of a false rejection in hypothesis testing
Decrease the significance level to make the critical value more extreme
How do you decrease the chance of both errors in hypothesis testing
By increasing the sample size
What is the p value in hypothesis testing
The likelihood that you would obtain the obtained sample mean if the null hypothesis is true. Aka observed probability of making type one error
What is a .01 .05 and .1 for two tailed tests
2.58 1.96 1.645
Go through the four step process of hypothesis testing
1 specify null and alternative hypothesis, 2 specify significance level, 3 calculate test statistics and p value, 4 state conclusions and interpret results
Which letter denotes the value if the test statistic
Z
What is the decision rule in hypothesis testing
If the p value is less than the significance level a reject the hypothesis
