L8 - 3D Vision Flashcards
What is binocularity?
The area of vision seen by both eyes
What is zero retinal disparity?
The point/plane of vision in which no disparity occurs - each eye essentially sees the same image. This would mean the image is foveated in both eyes.
What is positive disparity?
Refers to objects further than the point of zero disparity
What is negative disparity?
Refers to objects closer than the point of zero disparity
What is another name for positive disparity?
Uncrossed disparity
What is another name for negative disparity?
Crossed disparity
What is a stereogram?
A picture that is 3D enabled. They consist of 2 pictures of the same scene but positioned slightly differently.
What is binocular disparity?
The difference between images seen by the two eyes
What is stereopsis?
The use of information and knowledge about retinal disparity to get a correct interpretation of depth
