L5 External features of the heart (2) Flashcards
Atrioventricular (coronary) groove.
separates atria from ventricles all around, contains right and left coronary artery, and contains coronary venous.
Inter-arterial groove.
ill-defined, hidden by aorta and pulmonary trunk, but it can be traced posteriorly.
Anterior inter-ventricular groove.
on the sterno-costal surface, contains Anterior inter-ventricular branch of the left coronary, great cardiac vein.
Posterior inter-ventricular groove.
on the diaphragmatic surface, contains Posterior inter- ventricular branch of the right coronary artery, middle cardiac vein.
Anterior (sterno-costal) surface.
Right 2/3 (formed by the right ventricle).
Left 1/3 (formed by left ventricle).
Inferior (Diaphragmatic) Surface.
Right 1/3 (formed by right ventricle).
Left 2/3 (formed by left ventricle).
Base of the Heart.
Lies posteriorly and is formed mainly by the left atrium.
Is separated from the diaphragmatic surface of the heart by posterior part of the atrioventricular groove.
