What do you think has led to Sally’s health concerns

A

Looking at antibiotics, long term 3months, this was a trigger, never well since. S&S since leading to constipation, certainly dysbiosis, now compounding with constipation, POOR food choices, regular snacking, high sugar, carbs, sedentary lifestyle. Used to exercise, sluggish digestion triggering headaches, driving skin eruptions

What are the triggers for this case

A

antibiotics

divorce proceedings, steps leading up to that as well. (didnt ask but how long as this high level of stress going on)
Diet, drill down and be specific -
low fibre
low anti-oxidants
low water
high trans fats
high refined carbs
low omega 3
high omega 6
low veg protein
high animal protein
all the things contributing her S&S , constipation, headachs, lack of stress resilience, key things to be identified.
Also meds, folate status impacted, omeprazole blocks vit b12 and Vit D and mineral absorption, especially iron, calcium and zinc contributing to deficiency and insufficency.

Which systems need support

A

Digestive - constipation, flatulence, bloating, picking up colds and flus so immune system comes from how well our gut is functioning. Drinking alcohol, carbs, low anti-OX, having an effect on biliary system leading to constipation and production of enzymes.

Nervous system - under stress, juggling 2 young chldren, divorce proceedings, tension headaches, no exercise, gained weight impacting mental health.

Immune System - Joint pain and knees, skin eruptions. Constipation and dysbiosis going on so long causing low grade inflammation picking up alot of colds of flus.

What are the mediators -
These are IMBALANCES occuring in the body

A

Inflammation - skin, knees and immune needing support
dysbiosis, as there is Constipation, gas
HPA axis dysregulation or cortisol imbalance,
Stress would be a trigger, physiological imbalances are presenting themselves,
Low water would be a trigger,
Likliehood, presenting with low HCl due to PPI (suppress secretion of HCl) , impacting upr and lower digestion and impacting enzymes

A

mindful eating. takes time with breakfast, with lunch, chewing well, away from devices. Hard with kids and business. Try to engage with children. Have a gap 16/8, helps with rest and digest, has a break in between digesting food. Putting alot of sugar, driving alot of symptoms of dysbiosis. 5 colourful portions of veg, 2 of fruit, swiss chard. Wonderful lime, get kids to kick off what colours they had throughout the day, get them involved in meal prep, get them involved in good healthy diet.

add ginger, fennel, mint, digetive herbs as tea. Chamomile, lemon balm, ginger, homemade chive, cinamon, caradomon, tumeric, thyme.

Gut - brain support, dark green leafy veg, cruciferous veg, bVits, wholegrain, nutritional beef, salmon, seaweed, sunflower seeds, turkey, avocado, magnesium. all helps with energy.

magnesium, brocolli cabbage carrot spinach kiwi (great for bowel movement) and flax seed , helps with omega 3.

Omega 3 - 3 portions of oily fish, great for kids, helps through teens, tumeric, fresh powdered into eggs, golden milk, vitD to be checked and check for SIBO and make extra family friendly recipes.

what aspects of Sally’s diet not helping

A

Low fibre, low water, high carbs, low antioxidants, low omega 3, high omega 6, low veg intake, poor animal protein (processed) that she is choosing.

Lifestyle recommendations suggestions and why?

A

Already gained 6kg, needs to maintain muscle mass based on her age, doesnt want to gain even more weight. Bring in relaxation, yoga or pilates, guided with knee or joint repair.
Mindfulness, kids repair tips helps to teach kids to self-regulate from a young age.
After school class, gives her a longer working day.
