Q

What is the function of the earth wire?

A

The earth wire is connected to the metal casing of a supply. If the current somehow travels into the outer casing of the supply, it will travel into the earth wire which has low resistance instead of through you. It takes the current to the ground

Q

What is the function of the fuse?

A

The current flows through the fuse before flowing through the appliance. It has a very low resistance meaning that a very high current can flow through it. When current is too high, it will melt the fuse since it has a small diameter and low melting point. This breaks the flow of current in the appliance
