Q

What is the sensory memory (SM)?

A

Information held by the senses

It is where we passively receive sensory information

Without attention this information decays from our memory

With attention it will transfer acoustically to the STM

Q

What is STM?

A

If STM have elaborative rehearsal they can be transferred to the LTM where it can last a lifetime

Q

How do the STM + LTM differ?

A

In different locations in the brain

Q

Explain the role of rehearsal

A

Maintenance rehearsal can enable memories to go from the SM to the STM
