L2:Reaction to acids Flashcards
hydochloric acid + sodium oxide —>what + what
sodium chloride + water
nitric acid + calcium —> what + what
calcium nitrate + water
pottasium oxide +hydochloric acid —> what + what
pottasium chloride + water
sulfiric acid + magnissuim —> what + what
maggnisuim sulfate + hydrogen
symbol for sodium hydroxide
NaOH
symbol for pottasium hydroxide
KOH
symbol for calcium hydroxide
Ca(OH)2 (smol 2)
what does the OH mean in an acids chemical symbol
they are a hydroxide ion
what are non metal oxides
Ph less than 7- when dissolved in water it forms an acidic solution
symbol for hydrochloric acid
HCl
symbol for sulphuric acid
H 2 (smol)SO4(smol)
nitric acid symbol
HNO3(smol)
what does nitric, sulphuric and hydrochloric acid have in common?
they all have hydrogen
compelete these word eqations:
I
V
NO2(smol)+H2O(smol) = what ?
SO2(smol) + H2O(smol) = what?
1)HNO3(smol)
2)H2(smol)SO3(smol)
what are the causes of acid rain
Acid rain is caused by the release of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere, where they react with water, oxygen, and other chemicals to become sulfuric and nitric acid respectively.(PH is normaly 4.5)
