L2 Perimeter, Area & Volume Flashcards
For a cylinder with a radius r cm and height h cm.
How do you find the surface area of the cylinder?
Area of circle end: A=πr²
(note: length of rectangle, same as the
circumference of the circle)
area of rectangle = h x 2πr
Total surface area = πr² + πr² + h x 2πr
What’s the formula for calculating the volume of a prism?
Volume of a prism = Area at end of shape x length
Find the volume of a cylinder that has a radius of 10cm and a height of 12cm.
Volume of cylinder = area at end of prism x length
(End shape of the cylinder is a circle)
Area of circle = 3.14 x 10 x 10 = 314cm²
Volume of Cylinder = area of circle x length
= 314 x 12 = 3768 cm³
Formula for Area of a circle is?
A=πr²
Formula for Area of a tringle is?
Area = (base x height) ÷2
Find the volume of a sphere of radius 5cm given:
Volume of a sphere = 4/3 πr³.
Give your answer to 1dp
Volume = 4/3 x 3.14 x 5³ (4/3 = 4 ÷ 3) = 1.3333 x 3.14 x 125 = 523.3333 cm³ = 523.3 (1dp)
What is the circumference of a circle with a diameter of 20cm?
C=πd (or C=2πr)
C= 3.14 x 20 =
62.8cm
What’s the formula for the volume of a cuboid?
Volume = length x width x height
What is the surface area of a cube with one side measuring 3cm?
Area of one side = 3 x 3 = 9cm²
Cube has 6 identical sides
6 x 9 = 54cm²
How many square tiles (50cm by 50cm) can fit on a wall measuring 3.5m by 2.5m
3.5m = 350cm and 2.5m = 250cm
350 ÷ 50 = 7 tiles
250 ÷ 50 = 5 tiles
7 rows of 5 tiles = 7x5 = 35 tiles
