What are whole numbers?
= {0 ; 1 ; 2 ; 3 ; 4 ; 5 ; 6 ; 7 ; …..}
What are natural numbers?
= {1 ; 2 ; 3 ; 4 ; 5 ; 6 ; 7 ; ….
What is a rational number?
any number that can be expressed as a fraction, where the numerator and the denominator are both integers.
The following are all rational numbers:
non-terminating (infinite) and recurring (repeating) decimals eg 0.232323…..
terminating (finite) decimals eg 0.23
integers
all fractions
What is an irrational number?
any number that cannot be expressed as a fraction.
The following are all irrational numbers:
non-terminating (infinite) and non-recurring decimals eg 0.18542391….
the square-root of a non-square number eg 84 rooted
the cube-root of a non-cube number eg 51 cube rooted
What are non real numbers?
A non-real number is any number that does not exist in the real number system.
What are undefined numbers?
Any number that has a zero denominator.
