What are the special cells lining the urinary side of the urothelium called?
Umbrella cells, they can relay signals to lamina propria on contents of urine
What is contained within the lamina propria?
A mesh of sensory neurones contained within the connective tissue allows mechanical and chemical signals to be relayed.
What signal causes detrusor muscle to contract?
Parasympathetic Ach acting on M3 receptors
How is an overactive bladder managed pharmocologically?
antimuscarinic drugs but develop tolerance to them.
