L12 - Linking senses and behaviour to memory Flashcards
What dies David Mar’s 3 levels fo analysis state?
That any complex cognitive task must be broken down into 3 levels.
1) Comutational design
2) Algorithm
3) Physical implementation
What is the drift diffusion model?
As evidence goes one way or another the imaginary marker drifts either up or down till it reaches a decision bound.
What is reaction time defined as?
The period between seeing the stimulus and executing the behaviour.
What kind of distribution does reaction times have?
Non-Gaussian (Skewed right)
How is Gaussian distribution receovered?
If the x-axis is scaled according tp the reciprocal of the recation time (1 over the reaction time)
what is the speed accuracy trade off?
The relationship between an indiciduals willingness to respnd slowly makwing few errors or resond quickly making more errors.
Can the decision bound be flexible and why?
Yes, they can get lower over the cause of decision making as the need to decide becomes more urgent.
Where is evidence accumulated in the brain (monkeys)?
Evidence accumulation appears in spike rates of certain neurons in the monkey visual cortex.
What is the lateral intra-parietal area of monkeys responsible for?
Generating the sacchades which are the monkey’s behavioural response to the task.
Where does evidence accumulation appear in the human brain?
In the dendritic integration in drosophila kenyon cells .
What are kenyon cells responsible for?
Storing olfactory memeories.
