Power
Getting someone to do something whether they want to do it or not. Power is the capacity to influence others.
Influence
Application of power.
Influence Techniques (soft)
Ingratiation, personal appeals, inspiration, participation, relationship building, consultation. Soft aligns to “personal power”.
Hard Techniques (hard)
coalition, legitimate request, pressure. Hard aligns with positional power.
Rational
Rational persuasion, exchange, apprising, collaboration. Aligns with both personal and positional power.
