L1: Introduction to SA&D Flashcards
Systems Development Lifecycle
The SDLC is a process or sequence of events usually organised as a project that consists of all activities required to build, launch, and maintain an information system
The six core processes of the SDLC (I, P, D, D, B, C)
The six core processes of the SDLC are:
1. Identify the problem and gain approval
2. Plan the project
3. Discover and Understand the details
4. Design the system components
5. Build, Test, and Integrate system components
6. Complete System Testing and Deploy System
Computer application
A computer application is a computer software program that executes on a computing device to carry out specific functions
Information system
An information system is a set of inter-related components that collects, processes, stores, and provides as output the information needed to complete business tasks
Systems analysis
Systems analysis is those activities that enable a person to understand and specify what the new system should accomplish
“What is required of the new system?”
Systems Design
Systems design consists of those activities that enable a person to define and describe in detail the system that solves a need/problem
“How does the system solve the need?”
