Deviance definition
Behaviour that differs from the norms/ values of a sport
AO3: Usually driven by a ‘win at all costs’ attitude = typically seen in high level sport
Three forms of deviance
- violence
- drugs + doping
- gambling in sport
Violence
Physical force with the intention of harming an individual, group of property
Drugs + doping
Substances used to improve/ change human performance
- banned list (illegal drugs in sport) = decided by WADA
- not all drugs on the banned list in sort are illegal in society
- banned list = considered PED’s (performance enhancing drugs)

Improves stimulation, concentration + muscular performance
Helps athletes train harder + longer = clearer thinking
