car top box
language box is installed with four small screws, with hole drilled to acces volume button,xs1 is plugged into language box while xs2 goes to control plug.
drill two holes with quater 20 bit for switch and out let, Do not drill into board.
dril 3/4 hole with whole saw for buttons
mount alarm on back of box
take out board when drilling holes as to not damage board

notice which direction light is facing
also pay attention where cord for butons goes
look how language box is mounted
motor
top rail is leaned back to install motor with chainfall
name all wires and where they go
ground to receptacle
nuetral white goes from box to recepticle to light
black from box to receptacle to switch to light
all three wires come from panel
also white wire usualy goes to silver screw and black goes to gold screw.
make sure to get clearance height for rollers.
run car down all the way to be sure car does not hit rollers.
- when prepping make sure feet poinbt out and tape anchor bolts to stands when done.
when prepping find and mark center with a thin pen and blue tape.
install into landing with anchors. Must be 1 1/4 inch between sill and car.
level and center it, make sure they cler hoistway after installing.
vince drove extra 3/8 anchors into sill for strength ,
Vince also marked center on all landings then hung sills
here there are five ropes for a 2500 lb car.
-for prep take off plastic and tape and cut ends so that the ends do n ot blossom. only put one layer of tape on as it needs to run through sheeves.
notice place ment of bolts when puting together
it is installed diagonally from corner to corner.
it is installed with a chainfall and a hold back
(vince uses a choker for a holdback)
also notice which way is front
last time the guard which has four slotted holes on each side hit the brackets on the way up and had to be trimmed. we also trimmed the brackets
these are the 19 and 14 wires
wires 1 through 9 are yellow on both making the rest orange, that means that the 19 wire will have more orange in it.
both of these wires run from the controller down through the raceway in the hoistway and to the buttons, as well as in the pit to the buffer switches.

traveler wires
- when stripping DO NOT CUT.
these wires go from the control room to the car which is stripped
, then they are locked in with a yellow wedge onto the car and hang below the car six inches from the ground, the second one is spaced four inches from the bottom one.
should be ten wedges
20 clips, four per cable, two on each side.
these anchore rope down on bothe sides.

the part that looks like a bell is called a bell. This is where the dead end of the rope goes.
there will be four holes in the rail for the bracket. and the small mount with one big hole on the other side.
Top access switch wires 7 and 8 go to XH2
the bottom acces wires are 5 and 6 which go to XH2

Notice how the bracket for the governer is mountedon the rail and the hole pattern
Also notice the encoder and the wire not to break on top of the motor.
fire department box
use fao key vince gave you, it is used in main loby and at this fire department box.
This is the junction box that sits atop horshoe in the overhead.
The numbers on the connections are always from 1 down.
Notice the holes we had to enlarge them to inch and a quarter. we used a half inch whole saw than used knockout set with a 1 1/4 hole.
This is vincent adjusting the brakes on the motor, one break has two wires and the other has five, he had to take cover off with an allen head to acces wires. He then marked them all by number and then cut them so he could remember where each of them go once he rerouted them.
Traveler Hanger
There are two of them, One is in the overhead, and one sits on top of the car.
- notice how sheeves are diagonal underneath car and how the order of the ropes.
- Then look at the counterweight ropes and how you start at the back and ork your way to the front.
Vincent shows me the how the plug to control the motor is wired.
He uses the ground from the dual shielded cables fro the ground . then uses wires 22, 23,4 24, red, whit ,, lavender.
When wiring make sure wires are not backwards, this will blow boards and fuses. You can do this matching up the 7 hole male plug to the 7 hole female plug.
Earth quake box, replace batteries , when eq will not turn off, also trace wires when looking for buttton in machine room.
magnetic switches go onto plate which goes on outside of stiles bringing the magnets 1/8 of an inch apart.
n means down in finland, there is also a 30 switch and an up switch.
