Q

What was clarksons overall contribution to ending slavery??

A

Whilst he was a committed campaigner and was the driving force of SFEAST, alone he had a very limited impact on getting anything meaningful passed in parliament; the Dolben act only improved slave ship conditions and there is no clear evidence to suggest this was due to the work of Clarkson/ SFEAST. Slavery reintroduced by Napoleon in 1802, so overall failure
