Government=
the people in charge.
Monarchy=
system of government with a monarch (King
or queen) in charge.
Power=
being able to do something
Reign=
the period of a King’s rule
Protest=
when people rise up in opposition to something.
Revolt=
when people rise up against the government.
Civil War=
a war between people from the same country.
E.g. English vs English.
Scutage=
A tax paid to the king to get out of military
service.
Seal=
a piece of wax, which gave approval
Poll Tax=
a tax where everyone is forced to pay the
same amount- very unfair.
Commons=
The ‘common people’, everyone who was
not the Church or the Nobility.
Parliament=
people elected to represent, debate, and to
pass laws.
Representation=
speaking or acting on someone’s
behalf.
Tenant=
someone who rents land or property.
Grievance=
a complaint.
