Q

Which fats are healthiest

A

Monounsaturated.

Monounsaturated fat and polyunsaturated fat are ‘healthy’ fats.

Cis fats are typically considered better for the body than trans fats.

16
Q

What is the site of fatty acid syntehsis

17
Q

How do hormones regulate ACC1?

A
  • Glucagon and epinephrine: inactivate ACC1 through AMP.
induce the mobilization of fatty acids to break down
  • INsulin: activates ACC1, also provide glucose -> acetyl coA for fatty acid syntehsis
18
Q

How does insulin stimulate fatty acid synthesis?

A

By increasing glucose uptake -> activating the PDH -> make acetyl coA and stimutaling ATP-citrate lyase , and activating ACC1 (by dephosphorylation)

19
Q

Which tissues use ketone bodies for energy

A

muscle, brain, heart, kidney
