Purpose of Reef Knot?
To join two lines of equal diameter
Purpose of Sheet bend?
To join two lines of unequal diameter
Purpose of Clove hitch?
To secure a line to any round object
Purpose of Round turn and 2 half hitches?
To secure a line to a solid object
Purpose of Rolling Hitch?
To secure a line to cylindrical object (esp suited for sideways pull)
Purpose of Purchase knot?
To provide purchase on an object where it is required to be secured tensioned or stabilised

To bend a line to a person
Purpose of the chair knot?
It is a rescue knot
Purpose of Figure of 8?
A stopper knot, stops a line passing a given point
Purpose of Figure 8 Rethread ?
To form a loop at the end of a line where you can’t use figure of 8 on the bight - e.g used for a tree
Purpose of figure of 8 on the bight?
To form a secure loop in a line for clipping into such items like a karabiner
