Knee Pain Flashcards
Knee pain and swelling following a deceleration-type injury at the knee causing a shearing motion of the femur over the tibia. Intracapsular and extrasynovial in nature.
What condition is this?
ACL Rupture
Pain on the back side of the knee with the feeling of laxity in the knee following a fall or a direct force on a fully flexed knee.
What condition is this?
PCL rupture
Pain on the lateral side of the knee with minimal swelling, often associated with a blow to the medial knee on the M-L direction.
What condition is this?
LCL Rupture
The mechanism of injury may involve abrupt turning, cutting or twisting. MCL injuries can also result from direct blows to the lateral knee that cause an extreme valgus stress.
What condition is this?
MCL Rupture.
Knee pain accompanied with clicking, popping, or locking of the knee in flexion and or extension. Typically, difficulty walking up or down steps.
What condition is this?
Meniscus Lesion
Located posterior to patellar tendon and anterior to the capsule, the HFP is richly innervated and, therefore, one of the sources of anterior knee pain. Repetitive local microtraumas, impingement, and surgery causing local bleeding and inflammation are the most frequent causes of HFP pain and can lead to a variety of arthrofibrotic lesions. In addition, the HFP may be secondarily involved to menisci and ligaments disorders, injuries of the patellar tendon and synovial disorders.
What condition is this?
Hoffas Fat Pad Syndrome
