Function: Extend the knee
Vastus Medialis (quad)
Origin: Medial aspect of femur
Insertion: patella
Function: Extend the knee
Vastus lateralis (quad)
Origin: lateral aspect of femur
Insertion: patella
Function: extend the knee
Rectus femoris (quad)
Origin: anterior inferior iliac spine
Insertion: patellar tendon
function: extend knee, also hip flexor

Origin: condyle of femur
Insertion: Achilles
Function: knee flexion
Gracilis
Origin: Pubis
Insertion: below medial condyle of tibia -Pes anserinus
function: weak knee flexor, adductor

Origin: Ischial tuberosity
insertion: posterior medial condyle of tibia
function knee flexor, hip extender, medial rotate knee
Semitendonosus (HS)
Origin: ischial Tuberosity
Insertion: medial tibia - Pes anserinus
Function: hip extender, internal knee rotator
Bicept Femoris LH (HS)
Origin: Ischial Tuberosity
Insertion: fibula (styloid process)
Function: Hip extensor
Bicept Femoris SH (HS-ish)
Origin: back of femur (lateral to supracondylar ridge) - linerar aspera
Insertion: fibula (styloid process)
Function: flex knee
Sartorius
Origin: anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS)
Insertion: upper medial portion of tibia
Action: rotate hip, hip flexor, hip abduct, weak knee flexor
