Knee Flashcards
What are the three ligaments of the knee?
Lateral and Medial Collateral Ligaments (LCL and MCL)
Anterior and posterior cruciate lig
Lateral and Medial Collateral Ligaments (LCL and MCL)
Strengthen the medial and lateral aspects of the joint
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)
Controls rotation and forward movement of the tibia
Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL)
Controls backward movement of the tibia
What is the kVp for AP knee?
60-70kVp
What is the mAs for AP knee?
7-10mAs
What is the centre point for AP knee?
Apex of the patella
What is the kVp and mAs for the AP intercondylar knee?
60-70kVp and 7-10mAs
Centre for the AP Intercondylar
Perpendicular to the long axis of the tibia, parallel to tibial plateau and will enter knee 1 cm distal to apex of patella
- knee flexed 40-60 deg
What is the PA weight bearing knee also referred to as?
Rosenburg view
What is the flexion angle for a patient’s knee in AP intercondylar supine?
40-60 degrees depending on patient presentation
What is the Rosenburg view?
Bilateral knee x ray posterior
What is the patient presentation for Rosenburg view?
Pt is erect facing bucky, knees bent 45 degrees, resting knees against bucky
What is the CR for knee PA weight bearing/rosenburg?
CR- Angle the x-ray tube 10deg caudad- centre at the level of knee joint
Where do maximum stresses in the knee occur?
Between 30 - 60 degrees of
flexion.
