A
  • DC Stephenson (a KKK leader) was jailed for 2nd degree rape and murder of a young woman.
  • Stephenson expected support from fellow KKK, but they shunned him.
  • In revenge he released information exposing KKK members working in government jobs as well as evidence for their crimes (such as lynchings) to get them arrested.

  • 31st May 1921 a white mob rampage left only smoking ruins and 300 dead.
  • Thousands more fled in terror.

  • Was very anti KKK and placed city under martial law and hired black police and the national guard after the riots in Tulsa.
