Armed forces were segregated.

Kept blood from blacks and whites separate.
What were blacks denied from doing in some states?
Voting.
How was schooling different to whites?
They were not allowed to attend the same schools as whites so often fell behind on their education.
Were poverty levels higher in blacks?
Yes.
What were blacks not allowed to do in public places?
Drink from the same water fountains as blacks or sit on the same park benches.
On buses what did black people have to do?
If a white person got on, they would have to move.
What was outlawed between blacks and whites?
Marriage.
What did the KKK believe in?
White supremacy.

Mostly people who felt threatened, usually economically by immigration.

Many white law enforcement officers were sympathetic towards the klan and its aims.

Jews, Catholics.

Intimidation and casual violence.

Their presence and the farming crisis push blacks north.
