Advantages: easy to store, cheaper, less chance of damage. Disadvantages: Takes time to assemble.
What is the BEST way to cut a masons mitre on a worktop?
Using a router & worktop jig.
How would kitchen units be attached to a hollow back ground wall?
Using cavity fixings or to prefixed noggins or plywood.
What is one advantages, and one disadvantages of ready built units?
Advantages: quicker to fit, Stronger. Disadvantages: Harder to store, Can get damaged, more expensive.
How would wall units adjusted to get them level?
Inside the top back corners of the unit are two adjusting screws one raises the unit the other pulls it tight against the wall.
How would base units adjusted to get them level?
They have four adjustable legs attached to the bottom of the unit.
How is the sink or hob aperture sealed to prevent moisture penetration?
With silicon or PVA adhesive.
How is the plinth held in position?
Attached to the legs using plastic clips.
Describe how base units are secured to the wall?
Using metal L shaped brackets.
State three different types of materials that worktop could be made from?
Post formed plastic laminate, Hardwood, Slate, Stone, Tiles on manmade board, Corine.
How is a kitchen worktop joined at 90 degrees?
With a masons mitre or an aluminium joint strip.
What are the majority of kitchen units made from?
Melamine faced chipboard.
How is a sprit level checked for accuracy?
ANS: Put it on a wall level, draw a line reverse the level and line up with line, if bubble is in centre level is accurate.

Sink, Fridge & hob
What PPE is required when using a circular saw when cutting the worktop to length?
Eye, ear and dust protection.
What Visual safety checks should be carried out on a circular saw before use?
